Massachusetts 1.66% COVID-19 7 day average positive test rate lowest since October 22nd, over 40 new deaths announced

Massachusetts saw a decrease in cases, positive test rate, and hospitalizations in Sunday’s COVID-19 report.

Massachusetts saw 1,281 more positive cases announced today. A decrease from Saturday’s report. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate decreased to 1.66% which is the lowest it has been since October 22nd.

Massachusetts had seen 1,495 more positive cases announced yesterday.

The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total confirmed cases to 559,083 with 43 more reported dead (41 confirmed, 2 probable) for a total of 16,417 (16,085 confirmed, 332 probable).

The overall amount of tests administered in Massachusetts is now 16,825,551 after 96,578 new molecular tests.

The 7 day average of confirmed COVID-19 deaths is currently 36.9.

Estimated active cases saw a rare as of late increase today to 27,320.

Hospitalizations have increased in 93 of the last 168 days and 68 of the last 127, but saw a decrease of 22, to lower the total to 665. COVID-19 hospitalizations continue to decrease as of late as there were 2,428 in the Bay State on January 4th. November 11th was the last time that COVID-19 hospitalizations were this low.

Weekly COVID-19 Public Health Report

According to the March 4th report, Fall River has a 22,7 Average Daily COVID-19 Rate per 100,000 population (Last 14 days) (27.0 last week). New Bedford saw a decrease to 23.6 (was 31.6). Westport also saw a decrease to 18.3 (was 26.4), Swansea is at 20.2 and was 27.3 last week. Somerset also saw a decrease as they sit at 21.2 (was 22.8). Freetown decreased to 32.4 from 35.5. Dartmouth is currently at 23.9 after seeing 27.7 last week. Acushnet saw 31.4 (was 41.7).

19 Massachusetts communities are still in the red (high risk). Blackstone, Chicopee, Clinton, Fall River, Freetown, Hadley, Haverhill, Lawrence, Ludlow, Lynn, Methuen, New Bedford, Peabody, Plainville, Springfield, Sterling, Sutton, West Bridgewater, and Weymouth.
