UPDATE: Car recovered from Taunton River Sunday morning
A vehicle that had been discovered in the Taunton River has been determined to be unoccupied.
Last night, the Plymouth County Technical Rescue and Dive Team members were activated to respond to the Taunton River in Middleboro by Summer Street for a reported overturned vehicle in the water.
According to the Abington Fire Department, firefighters responded with 2 divers and 2 dive tenders, along with S1 and Incident Support Unit/Dive Trailer.
Several other local departments were on scene including Middleboro and Hanover.
A bystander had found the vehicle on Saturday afternoon.
It was determined that the vehicle was unoccupied and members assisted in the retrieval and removal of the vehicle from the water.
According to the Middleboro Fire Department, the vehicle was removed and remaining units cleared around 1:30 a.m.
