Police release name of man killed in Wednesday morning pedestrian crash
At approximately 2:04 AM on Wednesday morning, members of the Rhode Island State Police investigated a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian, later identified as Gregory Perez, age 30, of 132 Lenox Avenue in Providence.
According to Rhode Island State Police, an investigation of the crash revealed that Perez, who was wearing dark clothing, entered onto the highway from the right breakdown lane area. He then proceeded to cross three lanes of travel when he was struck by a vehicle being operated northbound on Route 95 in the City of Providence. Perez was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.
The accident remains under investigation, however it appears that no criminal charges will be brought against the operator who struck Perez.
