Westport man killed in industrial accident Tuesday
A local man was killed Wednesday while working, according to authorities.
On Wednesday at approximately 8:30 a.m., Needham Police and Fire Units responded to Trip Advisor at 400 1st Ave on a report of an industrial accident. As a result of the accident, an Otis Elevator employee was pronounced deceased.
The victim’s name is 52 year old James Jacobs of Westport.
A friend recalled Jacobs as a man who’s daughter was a special part of his life.
“He was a good man who loved his daughter more than anything and that motivated him to be someone she could be proud of.”
The police department, Otis Elevator, and Trip Advisor all expressed their condolences.
At no time was any Trip Advisor employee in any danger according to police.
The incident is being investigated by State Troopers assigned to the Norfolk County DA’s Office, OSHA and the Needham Police Department.
