MassDOT schedules temporary road closures for Route 24 to Route I-195
FALL RIVER – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has announced that on Saturday, May 18, the exit 4 ramp from Route 24 southbound to I-195 eastbound in Fall River will be temporarily shut down from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
The temporary roadway closures are necessary to assist the State Police Reconstruction Team with required work related to a recent crash. The temporary roadway closures will be done using State Police and a temporary traffic control plan.
A temporary detour will be in place as follows:
Route 24 Southbound Detour
Proceed south on route 24.
Take the exit onto I-195 W/MA-24 south toward Fall River.
Take exit 8A for MA-24 south toward Tiverton R.I./Newport R.I.
Continue onto MA-24 south.
Take exit 2 for Brayton Ave. towards Eastern Ave.
Turn right onto Brayton Ave. (signs for US-6/Eastern Ave/Westport).
Turn right to merge onto MA-24 north toward I-195/Boston/Providence.
Continue on I-195 E/MA-24 north. Drive to exit 8B.
Merge onto MA-24N.
Use the right 2 lanes to take the MA-24 N/Interstate 195 east exit towards New Bedford/Boston.
Merge onto I-195 E/MA-24 north.
Those traveling through the area should expect delays, reduce speed and use caution.
