Fall River Girl Honored Before Boston Bruins Game
October is ‘Hockey Fights Cancer’ month and teams across the NHL are taking part to raise money toward cancer research. Before the Bruins game at TD Garden last night, a Fall River native was honored and received a standing ovation before performing the ceremonial puck drop.
Eight year old Layla Flint, of Fall River, is undergoing treatment for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. She is currently in remission and going through weekly treatments. Now a full two years after her initial diagnosis, she is planning to have her final treatment in February 2018. The Boston Bruins hope the ceremony will serve to remind Layla and her family that no one fights cancer alone. Our thoughts and prayers go out to them and all families fighting cancer.
