A minor is dead after an early morning wrong-way highway crash in Massachusetts on Sunday.

According to Massachusetts State Police, at approximately 3:23 a.m., Troopers from the Revere Barracks and Saugus Police responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a wrong-way driver traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Route 1 in the Saugus-Revere area. Minutes later, as Troopers were responding, the wrong-way operator struck another vehicle head-on, just south of Sargent Street in Revere.
