Meet Fall River Forever Paws Pet of the Week Beluga!
This handsome guy is just a big, giant baby looking for love.
According to Forever Paws, Beluga is just over a year old, weighs about 70lbs…and he’s very, very deaf. The world is a scary place when you’re a big, giant baby and can’t hear what’s coming or going on around you.
And honestly?
You won’t meet a sweeter guy.
Beluga is a mild-mannered boy. He’s a little bit of a scaredy-cat which is understandable because he can’t hear what’s going on around him. If he’s approached from behind and doesn’t see you coming, he’ll practically leap out of his own skin. He’s a little bit shy with strangers because he doesn’t know what to expect from them, but it doesn’t take him much at all to warm up and then he’s a big dopey lover boy.
While Beluga does do well with other dogs, you need to take into consideration that he’s deaf. If he does not see or smell another dog coming and he’s approached too quickly, there is ALWAYS the chance that his fear will make him snap/nip out of self defense. If he knows the other dog is there? He’s super excited! All he wants to do is play with them and bounce around like a goober! Forever Paws would prefer a home without cats, not because he’s aggressive towards them, but because they are much more likely to sneak up on him and scare the ever-loving hell out of him. Kids 12+ for essentially the same reasons.
Beluga has been doing well learning hand signals for his cues, does well on a leash, and is remarkably mild-mannered for a young pit bull mix of his size!
Since he is a restricted breed, you must own your own home or live in a home owned by a family member.
