
The Office of Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker and Manchester Police Chief Mark McCoy can confirm that, just before 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, the U.S. Coast Guard received reports of a vessel in distress off Singing Beach in Manchester -by-the-Sea.
Three male passengers and one dog entered the water. Two males – 67 and 65 years of age – were located and transported to area hospitals. The 67-year-old male has since been declared deceased. A third male passenger, age 37, is still missing. The dog has been located and is alive.
Coast Guard Station Gloucester, Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod, Boston Harbormaster, Salem Harbormaster, Beverly Harbormaster, Manchester-by-the-Sea Harbormaster, Gloucester Harbormaster, Massachusetts State Police, Gloucester Police Department, Beverly Fire Department and its dive team, and the Massachusetts Environmental Police responded.
