42-year-old Cape Cod woman arrested twice in 2 weeks on several drug trafficking and possession charges
A Cape Cod woman was arrested twice in about a two-week span on various drug charges
According to police, in the middle of August, Yarmouth Police Detectives, through a collaborative effort with the Dennis Police Department, executed a search warrant Tuesday night at a Mayfair Road residence in Dennis.
Upon executing the search warrant, Detectives uncovered multiple bags of crack cocaine weighing approximately 14.5 grams, a quantity of fentanyl and a small bag containing Alprazolam. Additionally, detectives located $147 cash.
As a result of the search warrant, Jasen Adkins, 44, of Sandwich, was arrested on two Outstanding Warrants and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B Controlled Substance (Crack Cocaine) Subsequent Offense and Conspiracy to Violate Drug Laws.
Adkins’ girlfriend, 42-year-old Tara Cooke of Dennis, was arrested and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B Controlled Substance (Crack Cocaine), Possession of Class A (Fentanyl), Possession of Class C (Alprazolam), and Conspiracy to Violate Drug Laws.
They were both transported to the Yarmouth Police Department where they were booked on the charges. Cooke was released on personal recognizance and Adkins held without bail. Adkins and Cooke were arraigned in Orleans District Court on Wednesday.
Yarmouth Police Detectives and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration conducted a knock and announce search warrant at a South Yarmouth residence Friday afternoon with the assistance of members of the Massachusetts State Police and Dennis Police Department.
Prior to executing the search warrant detectives observed Tara Cooke, 42, of Dennis, conduct a suspected drug transaction.
Detectives executed the search warrant at the Seaview Avenue residence and located illegal narcotics throughout the residence. K-9 Gauge, a narcotics detection canine, was also utilized during the search and alerted to a large quantity of crack cocaine and fentanyl hidden in a large wicker basket.
Also found during the search was narcotics packaging and distribution equipment, including a vacuum sealer, vacuum bags, sandwich bags and a digital scale.
At the conclusion of the search, Detectives located and seized approximately 256 grams of Fentanyl, 179 grams of Cocaine, 32 grams of Crack Cocaine, and 5 counterfeit Adderall pills made from methamphetamine. Detectives also seized $2767 cash which Cooke stated was money she was trying to obtain to bail her boyfriend out of jail.
Cooke was charged with Trafficking 200 Grams or More of Fentanyl, Trafficking 200 Grams or More of Cocaine, and Conspiracy to Violate Drug Law
Renee Fontaine, 55, of Yarmouth was charged with Trafficking 200 Grams or More of Fentanyl, Trafficking 200 Grams or More of Cocaine, Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine and Conspiracy to Violate Drug Law.
Jose Perez, 37, of Lawrence was charged with Conspiracy to Violate Drug Law.
All three subjects were arraigned on Monday in Barnstable District Court. Cooke was held on dangerousness, Fontaine was held on $2500 bail, and Perez was released.
