Bristol County man who died from injuries in motorcycle crash remembered for many talents as services announced
A Bristol County man killed in a motorcycle crash is being remembered.
According to Police Chief David LaPlante and Fire Chief Bryan LaCivita, at approximately 7:45 p.m., on August 23rd, Raynham Police and Fire Departments responded to Route 138 at King Philip Street for a report of a serious crash involving a motorcycle and pickup truck.
The motorcycle operator sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported via ambulance to Morton Hospital, and then via MedFlight to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment. The motorcycle operator, identified as 37-year-old Daniel Pitts of South Easton, passed away overnight due to injuries sustained in the crash.
The truck driver remained on scene.
According to an obituary, Pitts was a man of many talents. “Dan worked in a variety of roles—including as a mechanic, waiter, and painter—where he dedicated his sweat and tears. Through his hard work, he became a sole proprietor and the proud owner of Phoenix Painting Plus LLC.”
Dan was a devoted Jeep enthusiast who loved restoring vehicles and off-roading, and he often took part in local Jeep events. He was also a gifted artist and musician who drew, painted, and performed original songs as CAPRICIOUS. He had a deep love for animals, especially his Frenchie mix Biggies, and was known for his generosity, kindness, and willingness to share his talents with others.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 20th at Leighton-MacKinnon Funeral Home at 4 W. Washington St, (corner of rte 58) Hanson, MA. Visiting hours will begin at 1:00 PM, followed immediately by a memorial service and celebration of life beginning at 2:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your favorite charity in Dan’s memory.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police, the State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office and the Raynham Police Department.
