Fall River man sentenced to prison after using brass knuckles and bat attack believing man had sex with his stepdaughter

A Fall River man has been sentenced after an assault allegedly involving brass knuckles, steel toe boots, and a baseball bat.

According to the Morning Sentinel, 32-year-old Michael Cote was sentenced to 15 years in prison, with 7 years suspended, to be followed by four years of probation after admitting to a Somerset County Sheriff’s deputy that he attacked the victim in a home in Athens, Maine.

Cote found out that the 23-year-old victim had sex with his 17-year-old stepdaughter with autism.

Cote, his wife, and another person drove to the residence to confront the man.

The victim is permanently disabled according to his mother.

The judge stated that he took into account Cote’s lack of a criminal history.
