Fall River Police Department issues update after two dogs were found dead near Fall River / Westport line

We have an update after a recent social media post caused concern among Fall River residents.

Fall River Animal Control took to social media Thursday afternoon stating that two deceased dogs were found on the Fall River / Westport line. They appeared to be two husky type dogs.

Fall River Reporter contacted FRPD for an update and according to Lieutenant Matthew Mendes, on Tuesday, a Fall River Police Officer assigned to the Environmental Unit discovered two deceased dogs.

“Speaking with Animal Control no signs of foul play were evident, and the assumption is that the dogs died and the remains were disposed by the owner in a wooded area to avoid proper disposal costs.”
