Dog deceased, woman critically injured after being struck by vehicle in Fall River

Crews responded Sunday evening to a serious incident involving a woman and a pet dog in Fall River.

Around 9:15 p.m. a woman and her dog were reportedly hit on Brayton Avenue near the Route 24 exit.

According to Lieutenant Matthew Mendes, it has been confirmed that a woman and her dog were struck by a motor vehicle.

The woman sustained critical injuries and was transported to a trauma center.

The dog died as a result of its injuries.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Major Crimes Division and members of the Accident Reconstruction Unit.
