Fatal afternoon shooting in Fall River parking lot deemed suicide

Fall River personnel responded to an incident at a city parking lot that turned fatal.

A call came in around 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday for a medical assist in the Hanover Building parking lot at 235 Hanover Street.

Fall River Reporter had received tips that there was in fact a shooting, so we contacted Fall River Police.

Acting Chief JT Hoar confirmed that it was a suicide attempt and the patient, an adult male, was taken to Charlton Memorial Hospital for further treatment.

Hoar later confirmed that the man was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The matter is under investigation by Major Crimes Division Detectives.
