Young Massachusetts woman dies doing what she loved; remembered for her talent, volunteering, activism
A young Massachusetts woman known throughout the state has died due to a freak accident.
According to an obituary, 25-year-old Chloe Smith of Swampscott died living her dreams.
“Most of us never get that chance, that special moment where life comes together, the wind is at your back, and you have everything you ever wanted right in front of you. An avid equestrian, Chloe loved horses. In a cruel twist of fate, she had just achieved what she most desired: she was the new owner of a farm and barn for stabling horses, was moving up the ranks in competitive riding, and teaching lessons to another generation of riders. Following an accident during a routine ride, she is gone long before her time. Chloe was a progressive activist, and her memory will live on in each moment that those around her relentlessly pursue their heart’s desire and make positive change in the world; she is inspiring us all to ride on.”
Smith’s social media profile reveals that she was first introduced to horses in 2005 and she quickly fell in love with the sport. She also volunteered often. She served as a Food Drive Worker for the Swampscott Democratic Town Committee for over a decade, collecting donations for local food pantries. She also worked as a camp counselor and instructor.
Smith participated in a two-week service trip to Nicaragua in 2016, helping construct a water well for a small village.
