Fall River and Dartmouth men injured in highway construction accident

Fall River and Dartmouth men were injured in a construction incident on Friday.

According to Local 37 Ironworkers, Nate Leite and Keith Goncalo from Local 7 were injured in an accident on Friday in New Bedford. Keith is banged up but has been discharged. Nate should be fine in the long run but has some surgeries to get through before he starts the healing process.

WJAR 10 is reporting that the workers from D.W. White were injured when three steel-column rebar cages collapsed at just after 12:30 p.m. Crews were working on the I-195 to Route 18 interchange rehab project at the time.

MassDOT, OSHA, and D.W. White Safety are investigating.
