Fall River Director of Veterans Services organizes committee for State Rep Alan Silvia’s 7th Bristol seat

Fall River’s Director of Veterans Services has organized a committee for the state rep seat in 7th Bristol.

In the filing, Talos “Doc” Farris’ party affiliation is Republican with Silvia Jones as the Committee Chair and Derrick Smith as Treasurer.

According to a bio from the City of Fall River, Farris, originally of Atlanta, GA, served the military for 15 years, holding various leadership roles and specializing in administration, combat medicine, quality assurance, and process improvement. With a strong background in healthcare and business, Farris has also owned a successful federal government contracting business.

While on active-duty, Farris served honorably with the U.S. Marine Corps as a Navy Hospital Corpsman; and earned the title “Doc.” During multiple deployments in support of Operations Enduring Freedom, and Iraqi Freedom he acquired injuries that eventually led to the end of his military career in 2013.

Farris has experience as a benefits advisor for the U.S. Navy and Kaiser Permanente and has previously served as President of the Student Veterans of America-Bristol Community College Chapter.

Alan Silvia has represented the 7th Bristol District in the Massachusetts House of Representatives since January 2013 with his current term running until January of 2027.

The district covers part of Fall River.
