A 54-year-old Fall River man has pled not guilty to two Counts of Murder and one count of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm for the shooting deaths of 25-year-old Nicholas Almeida and his mother 54-year-old Elizabeth Almeida.
Court records show that at arraignment Monday in the Fall River District Court, Cole was held without bail.
According to Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn, III, on Friday, at approximately 8:05 p.m. Fall River Police received a 911 call to 431 Barnes Street for a double shooting.
Upon arrival, police located 25-year-old Nicholas Almeida and his mother 54-year-old Elizabeth Almeida both suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to a local hospital and pronounced deceased.
The suspect, identified as Cole, who was in a dating relationship with Elizabeth Almeida, was located at the scene along with a firearm.
Scanner transmissions revealed a complainant made a call to dispatch stating that he just shot his wife and son and that the gun was on the kitchen table.
Those who knew Nick and Liz have shared a common theme. They were the sweetest people you could meet.
Nick loved fishing and was known for his sense of humor while Liz was a great mom who welcomed Nick’s friends into her home like they were family.
A GoFundMe fundraiser has been created for funeral expenses.
Cole’s next scheduled court appearance is a probable cause hearing on March 6th.
A motive is still unclear.
Timothy J. Bradl, whose office represents Aiden “Turtleboy” Kearney, was added as counsel for Cole.
