Fall River restaurant closing, at least for now, but it wasn’t for lack of customers
What started out as a food cart, turned into a successful Fall River brick and mortar just over a year ago. Sadly, that chapter is ending.
Owner Jake Weiss of Bun Buds at 10 Purchase Street has issued the following statement on social media.
“For those who haven’t heard yet, I have made the decision to close Bun Buds on Saturday, Oct 4th.
“I started this business with a partner and my college professor, with the intention of Bun Buds being a killer summer project to dip our toes into entrepreneurship. I never could have imagined how far it took me. The truth is, this stuff isn’t easy. I’ve missed a lot of parts of my life due to the commitment this takes. Relationships have ended, family time has been missed, and friendships have been ruined. At the end of the day, my job is to keep my chin up and flip the sign to open. I am so incredibly proud of what my team and I have created together, now I am ready to step away and move on to my next stage in life.
“A lot of restaurants have closed for various reasons over the last few years in the wake of COVID and I suppose we are no exception. One thing I did want to share- maybe for my own pride or maybe because it is a good selling point- is that we are lucky to be closing for reasons that aren’t about a lack of customers.
“That being said, I am actively looking to sell my business. It’s profitable, ready to go, as turnkey as it gets. I have a fantastic lease thanks to the incubator program on Purchase St., and it would be incredible to see someone carry on the Bun Buds world we’ve created. The restaurant space is also up for sale, fully equipped with what I have now if you want to run your own concept! Call me at 215-882-0711 if you want to chat about that.
“Now, the sappy stuff
“I have always been grateful for the people who came in out of their way when we were the new spot in town who didn’t know if we would be worth their money or not. I’m grateful for those who told their friends, and I’m grateful for the friends who came because of that. We have a little community here where I have met so many amazing people. The hardest part about walking away from this is without a doubt knowing that the chapter in my life full of all of you is coming to an end.
“Thank you so much.”
