Plymouth County man indicted after authorities say steak dinner led to 17 stab wounds in death of 66-year-old Paul Pomerleau

BROCKTON – A Middleborough man has been indicted on a murder charge for fatally stabbing another man to death, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz has announced.

Today, Andrew Horsman, 41, was indicted by a Plymouth County grand jury on one count of Murder. He is currently held without bail.

The incident began around 8:00 p.m. on June 28th when Middleborough Police received multiple 911 calls reporting a fight and a stabbing at a residence on 19 Fairview Street.

Responding officers and emergency personnel found a man with multiple stab wounds, later identified as 66-year-old Paul Pomerleau, who was transported to Morton Hospital and pronounced dead at 8:52 p.m.

Witness interviews led Middleborough Police to identify and arrest Horsman near the scene without incident.

Witnesses reported that an argument over a steak dinner at the home escalated to the stabbing, with a steak knife found near Pomerleau’s body.

Investigators determined Pomerleau suffered 17 stab wounds, and after the attack, Horsman allegedly poured lighter fluid on the victim’s body.

Pomerleau had been in a long-term relationship with Horsman’s mother.

According to a GoFundMe fundraiser created by his daughter, Pomerleau “was a hard-working, loving father and grandfather who gave so much of himself to others. He was a logger, a handyman, a coffee-lover, and someone who made people feel welcome no matter what.”

Horsman will be arraigned in Brockton Superior Court at a later date.

Assistant District Attorneys Alexander Zane and Lindsay Smith are prosecuting the case, which was investigated by Middleborough Police and Massachusetts State Police.
