9-year-old Somerset boy dies after being pulled from Newport waters
A local family is experiencing unimaginable tragedy after an incident this week.
On Tuesday July 19th, 9-year-old Keven Arruda of Somerset was caught in a rip current at Easton’s Beach in Newport and was pulled to shore. He was unresponsive and rescued by lifeguards, revived, and transported to the hospital.
According to family, Keven was in the pediatric intensive care unit on life support suffering irreversible brain damage due to lack of oxygen to the brain and passed away.
The family has set up a GoFundMe fundraiser for medical and future expenses and it has raised $6,000 as of this writing.
