A group of dogs have perished in a tragic fire early this morning.

At approximately 2:30 a.m., the East Providence Fire Department responded to 96 Walnut Street for a working fire in the backyard.

Upon arrival, responders found a structure and a fence on fire.

The fire was located where there was a kennel.

The homeowners were not home at the time of the fire, however, it has been reported that there was a heater in the kennel that may have been the cause.
