3rd motorcycle rider dies in separate incidents in southern New England in 3-day stretch
Roads have recently been deadly for motorcycle riders in southern New England.
According to police, at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, the Fitchburg Police Department and the Fitchburg Fire Department responded to Ashby State Road for report of a motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle.
The operator of the motorcycle, a 44-year-old male Fitchburg resident, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.
According to family and a GoFundMe fundraiser, Shawn Clapper “was deeply loved by so many. He brought laughter, strength, and kindness into the lives of everyone who knew him. He wasn’t just a brother—he was a son, a family member, a friend, and someone whose presence made a lasting impact. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.”
The incident is being investigated by the Fitchburg Police
Department in conjunction with the CEMLEC Crash Reconstruction Team.
No additional information was released.
Clapper is at least the third motorcycle rider to be killed in a fatal crash in southern New England since Thursday.
