32-year-old arrested after allegedly supplying drugs in fatal overdose death

A local man has been arrested on a list of drug-related charges after one of his customers passed away.

On January 25th, the Pawtucket Police Narcotics Unit along with Major Crimes detectives began an investigation into a fatal overdose on Corrente Avenue.

Police say that 32-year-old Walik Morrison of Montgomery Street was quickly identified as the suspect responsible for supplying the victim the drugs that caused the fatal overdose.

After an investigation into Morrison by the Narcotics Unit, a court ordered search warrant was executed on Morrison’s apartment on Montgomery Street on February 15th.

During the search warrant, detectives seized approximately 2.7 pounds of marijuana, 8 grams of cocaine, 12 grams of fentanyl, and 726 counterfeit pressed pills that tested positive for fentanyl.

Morrison and 36-year-old Christine Ait Assi, of the same address, were both arrested.

The investigation into Morrison’s role in the overdose death on Corrente Avenue continued with the assistance of the Attorney General’s Office and on Friday, a Providence Grand Jury returned a true bill on 9 counts in reference to Walik Morrison and Christine Ait Assi.

Morrison was indicted on Controlled Substance delivery resulting in Death, Possession of 1 ounce-1kilogram of Para-flourofentanyl, Fentanyl, Tramadol, Xylazine, Conspiracy to violate the RI Uniform Controlled substance act, Possession with the Intent to Distribute Cocaine, Fentanyl, Para-flourofentanyl, Tramadol, Xylazine, and Marijuana.

Ait Assi was indicted on Possession of 1 ounce-1kilogram of Para-flourofentanyl, Fentanyl, Tramadol, Xylazine, Conspiracy to violate the RI Uniform Controlled substance act, Possession with the Intent to Distribute Cocaine, Fentanyl, Para-flourofentanyl, Tramadol, Xylazine, and Marijuana.

Both will be arraigned on April 6th in Providence Superior Court.
