27-year-old Fall River man arrested on drug and gun charges after traffic stop
NEW BEDFORD- New Bedford police detectives have seized a handgun and narcotics following a recent traffic stop.
Narcotics Det. Jordan DaSilva had received information concerning a male in possession of a firearm. On May 2nd, at approximately 10:00 a.m., this male’s vehicle was observed traveling in the west-end sector. At this time, detectives were able to conduct a stop of the suspect and his vehicle in the area of the Durfee St./Hathaway Blvd. intersection.
The suspect was identified as Harley Docanto, 27, of Fall River. Upon searching the vehicle, Docanti was found to be in possession of a .40 caliber handgun along with an extended magazine that was loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition. A baggie containing 43 tablets of oxycodone was also located.
Docanto was taken into custody and charged with possession of a firearm, ammunition, and a high-capacity feeding device without a license. He was also charged with illegal possession of a class “B” substance.
