24-year-old Massachusetts driver accused of intentionally hitting motorcycle rider, dragging him
A Massachusetts driver is accused of intentionally crashing into a motorcycle rider and dragging him.
According to police, on Thursday at approximately 8:30 a.m., the Medford Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call regarding a hit-and-run crash that had just occurred in the vicinity of Brooks Elementary School (388 High Street).
The crash involved a motorcyclist and a car that had fled the scene. The motorcyclist was observed to have suffered minor injuries and was being treated by the Medford Fire Department and Armstrong Ambulance personnel when the officers arrived.
The motorcyclist reported that a female driver had been following him closely for around a mile. The car then passed the motorcycle from the left side, crossing the double line. The motorcyclist made a gesture to show disapproval, and the car swerved into the motorcyclist, causing him and the bike to fall. The car continued to push the motorcycle with the motorcyclist still on it, dragging him approximately 15 feet up onto the sidewalk.
A witness was able to take a photo of the car’s license plate. Officers were able to track down the suspect, utilizing the victim’s description of the driver and the information provided by the license plate. The suspect was found at their residence in Everett and placed under arrest. The motorcyclist was transported to the hospital.
24-year-old Lovaine Jeanty of Everett was arrested and charged with Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Leaving the Scene of Person Injury, Leaving the Scene of Property Damage, and Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
