Officials release name of 22-year-old woman hit and killed on Route 93 after exiting vehicle
A woman was hit and killed in the early morning hours on Sunday.
According to Dave Procopio of the Massachusetts State Police, at approximately 12:01 a.m. the State Police-Medford Barracks received a report of a body on the roadway on Route 93 northbound, prior to Exit 32, in Medford. Responding Troopers and EMS personnel located the victim, 22-year-old Madeleine E. Fox of Billerica, and determined she was deceased.
Preliminary investigation suggests the victim was an occupant in a friend’s vehicle that was on the highway when she exited that vehicle. Fox, who at this point was a pedestrian on the highway, was then struck and killed by a motor vehicle or motor vehicles, the description(s) of which police are still trying to ascertain. The reason why and manner by which the victim exited her friend’s vehicle remain under investigation.
Family and friends are heartbroken over the sudden and tragic loss of Madeline. Those who knew her described her as one of the nicest people you would ever meet who was full of life and would let those around her be themselves.
The investigation into the facts and circumstances of the crash, including the identity of the driver who struck Fox and whether or not charges are warranted, is ongoing.
