21-year-old Massachusetts man killed; another 21-year-old injured in fatal rollover crash
A 21-year-old man has been killed in a weekend crash.
According to Massachusetts State Police, at approximately 6:05 a.m. on Saturday morning, Troopers assigned to the State Police-Charlton Barracks responded to a crash involving a 2011 Cadillac CTS that had gone off the roadway on I-90 westbound in Warren at the 69.2 mile marker. The Cadillac subsequently rolled over into the wood line to the right of the road.
When Troopers arrived on scene they discovered the driver, Tyrese Lee, 21, of Springfield, had been ejected from the vehicle. Lee was determined to be deceased at the scene.
No other vehicles are believed to have been involved in the crash. The lone passenger, a 21-year-old Springfield man was transported to Baystate Wing Hospital in Palmer with minor injuries.
Lee’s former college track team paid tribute to him after learning of his death.
“He was deeply loved within the team and was always an athlete that could get his teammates to have fun and get a good laugh in no matter where they were or what they were doing. Never news you want to hear. Gone too soon and greatly missed. Rest Easy Reese.”
The right lane of Route 90 westbound was closed for approximately 3 hours.
The crash remains under investigation by members of Troop C of the Massachusetts State Police with assistance from State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and State Police Crime Scene Services Section. State Police were assisted on scene by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
