19-year-old pleads not guilty, released on bail concerning fatal Dighton hit and run
A 19-year-old Providence, RI man was arraigned Thursday after being arrested earlier in the day at his place of employment in Taunton in connection to the April 4th fatal hit and run incident in Dighton that claimed the life of Paul DeMoura.
According to court records, Michael Laboy pled not guilty to charges of Leaving the Scene of a Crash-Death Resulting in Taunton District Court.
Laboy was released on $2,000 cash bail.
Dighton Police received a 911 call at approximately 10:00 p.m. from an off-duty Taunton Police officer who observed an object in the breakdown lane of Route 44 in Dighton, and then realized it was a man.
The victim, later identified as DeMoura, was rushed to Morton Hospital in Taunton, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The case is being prosecuted, and the investigation has been coordinated by, Assistant District Attorney Catherine Sauter.
Laboy’s next court appearance is scheduled for May 15th.
