12 people displaced in early morning fire in Fall River
The Fall River Fire Department fought a fire Monday that displaced 12 residents.
According to Deputy Chief Roger St. Martin, dispatch received a call just before 2:00 a.m. for smoke inside a 2nd floor bedroom ceiling at 284 Manchester Street.
Upon arrival, crews discovered the blaze that extended into the attic of the three-floor dwelling.
The fire was knocked down in less than a half hour with crews remaining on scene for overhaul.
The cause of the fire was deemed to be electrical.
Of the 12 people displaced from their homes, 5 were children.
Total damage to property was estimated at $150,000 with $100,000 worth of damage to the structure itself.
No injuries were reported.
