11 charged with DUI in two days; one charged twice in same day

Colonel James M. Manni, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police and Director of the Department of Public Safety, announces the arrest of eleven individuals for driving under the influence of liquor and or drugs over the past two days. One of the subjects was charged twice within an eighteen-hour period.

Patrick M. Cahill, age 61 of 61 Suburban Parkway, Warwick was charged on Friday, February 14, 2020, at 2:48 AM, with driving under the influence of liquor and/ or drugs – 1st offense (.10 to .15) and reckless driving after Troopers observed him traveling the wrong way (southbound) on Interstate 95 north in the City of Warwick. Less than twelve hours later, after entering a plea of nolo contendere in Third Division District Court, Patrick Cahill was stopped again on Interstate 95 in East Greenwich and charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/ or drugs – 2nd offense (.15/ greater). He is currently being held as a probation violator and will be presented in Third Division District Court on Monday, February 17, 2020.

In November of 2019, Colonel Manni launched the Rhode Island State Police Traffic Safety Unit. This unit consists of Troopers dedicated to detecting and removing impaired drivers from Rhode Island roadways. To date, members of the Traffic Safety Unit have arrested and charged 109 motorists for driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/ or drugs.

“In the past three months, since the Traffic Safety Unit was formed, impaired driving arrests on Rhode Island roadways have increased 157%,” said Colonel Manni. “These statistics represent our commitment to protecting the safety of all Rhode Islanders from the menace of impaired drivers.”

Over the past 48 hours, the Rhode Island State Police have arrested and charged the following individuals for driving while impaired on Rhode Island roadways:

Jeffrey A. Lumb, age 40, of 45 Lebaron Drive, East Greenwich, Rhode Island was arrested on 02/13/2020 at approximately 2:03 AM, on Pettaconsett Avenue in the City of Cranston for:
Driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/ or drugs – B.A.C. unknown.
Refusal to submit to a chemical test – 2nd offense.

Nicole A. Michalopoulos, age 23, of 10 Sheri Drive Coventry, Rhode Island was arrested on 02/13/2020 at approximately 2:30 AM on Route 95 south in the City of Warwick for:
Driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/ or drugs – B.A.C. unknown.
Reckless Driving.
Refusal to submit to a chemical test.

Allison M. Lary, age 57, of 274 East Main Street, Norton, Massachusetts was arrested on 02/13/2020 at approximately 6:05 PM on Route 95 north in the town of West Greenwich for:
Driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/ or drugs – B.A.C. unknown.
Refusal to submit to a chemical test.

Jesse J. Sewall, age 29, of 32 Meadow Drive Raynham, Massachusetts was arrested on 02/14/2020 at approximately 1:26 AM on Route 95 south in the City of Pawtucket for:
Driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/ or drugs – B.A.C. unknown.
Refusal to submit to a chemical test.

Patrick J. Cahill, age 61 of 61 Suburban Parkway, Warwick, Rhode Island was arrested on 02/14/2020 at approximately 2:48 AM on Route 95 north in the City of Warwick for
Driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/ or drugs – (.10 to .15).
Reckless driving.

Patrick J. Cahill, age 61 of 61 Suburban Parkway, Warwick, Rhode Island was arrested on 02/14/2020 at approximately 8:43 PM on Route 95 north in the town of East Greenwich for:
Driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/ or drugs – 2nd offense (.15 or greater).
Driving after denial, revocation, or suspension for certain violations

Melissa Gauvin, age 51, of McCabe Avenue, Pawtucket, Rhode Island was arrested on 02/14/2020 at approximately 10:38 PM on Route 95 north in the City of Warwick for:
Driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/ or drugs – B.A.C. unknown.
Refusal to submit to a chemical test.

Raymind D. Cruz, age 30, of 18 Lantern Lane, Coventry, Rhode Island was arrested on 02/15/2020 at approximately 12:13 AM on Route 95 south in the City of Cranston for:
Driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/ or drugs – B.A.C. unknown.
Refusal to submit to a chemical test.

Marquis L. Brewster, age 36, of 32 Oak Street, Cranston, Rhode Island was arrested on 02/15/2020 at approximately 1:45 AM on Plainfield Street in the City of Providence for:
Driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/ or drugs – 1st offense (.15 or greater).

Jonathan Tafuri, age 37, of 66 Camden Court, South Kingstown, Rhode Island was arrested on 02/15/2020 at approximately 2:31 AM on Route 95 south in the City of Providence for:
Driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/ or drugs – B.A.C. unknown.
Disorderly conduct.
Refusal to submit to a chemical test.

Joseph W. Laboeuf, age 32 of 431 High Street, apartment #B, South Kingstown, Rhode Island was arrested on 02/15/2020 at approximately 3:10 AM on Route 95 south in the City of Warwick for:
Driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/ or drugs – B.A.C. unknown.
Driving after denial, revocation, or suspension – 1st offense.
Refusal to submit to a chemical test.

Jacob J. Tibbetts, age 25, of 29 Saratoga Drive, Worcester, Massachusetts was arrested on 02/15/2020 at approximately 3:44 AM on Route 95 south in the City of Warwick for:
Driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/ or drugs – 1st offense (.15 or greater).

    Why don’t you do something about??? instead of handing out a stupid fine first offense for a drunk drivers should lose their license for six months and spend 30 days in jail. End of story. The police need to be held accountable for all these repeat offenders that go out and kill somebody. They are not enforcing the law to protect the public it’s a joke
