A major fire that began late Saturday night destroyed a structure and claimed the lives of some animals.

According to the Warren, RI Fire Department, at 11:24 p.m., Engines 6, 4, 5 and Tower Ladder 1 were dispatched to Barton Avenue for a possible structure fire.

Car 1 and first arriving companies found a fully involved barn as they approached the scene. Car 1 requested Engines 1, 2, 3, and Rescue as well as the East Bay tanker task force due to lack of hydrants in the area.

Crews were on scene until 4:00 a.m. this morning.
