Worcester man to serve life sentence after shooting 31-year-old Darren Dyette to death

WORCESTER — A jury found a Worcester man guilty of murder in the August 2020 fatal shooting of 31-year-old Darren Dyette on King Street, according to Worcester County District
Attorney Joseph Early, Jr.
Jacob Grice, 39, was found guilty of first-degree murder by a Worcester Superior Court jury after a 10-day trial. The first-degree murder conviction carries a mandatory life sentence without the possibility of parole. Sentencing is scheduled for March 12, 2025.
The jury also convicted Grice of possession of ammunition without an FID card.
One other person has also been charged in the killing. Grice’s girlfriend Amber L. Gravel, 31, was arraigned in Worcester Superior Court on the charge of murder and held without bail in
November 2020. She is scheduled to next appear in court on March 6, 2025.
Dyette, who was from Boston, was allegedly lured by Gravel at the direction of Grice, according to the Telegram & Gazette.
Loved ones described Dyette as someone who “loved the outdoors. He loved people and everyone he knew loved him. He was athletic and could play just about any sport.” He left behind twin boys.
“I want to thank our prosecution team of Assistant District Attorneys David Feraco and Shayna Woodard, as well as Victim Witness Advocate Margaret Rwaramba, for their hard work on this case,” Mr. Early said. “I also would like to thank the Worcester Police Department for their thorough and diligent work in pursuit of justice.”
