Woman seriously injured in Route 138 crash Friday
EASTON — Fire Chief Kevin Partridge and Police Chief Gary Sullivan report that the Easton Police and Fire Departments responded to a motor vehicle crash on Turnpike Street (Route 138) Friday morning.
At approximately 7:30 a.m., Easton Police and Fire personnel responded to the area of 700 Turnpike St. for a report of a vehicle that crashed into a tree.
Upon arrival, first responders located a silver SUV that went off the road and collided into a tree head-on. The driver and sole occupant, a 51-year-old Easton woman, was trapped inside the vehicle.
Firefighters used hydraulic extrication tools to free the woman from the vehicle. She was transported to Boston Medical Center with injuries that are believed to be serious, but non-life threatening.
The initial investigation indicates that the woman suffered from a medical episode shortly before the crash.
Route 138 was closed down to one lane while crews remained on scene. The scene has since been cleared and all lanes are open.
