Woman injured, arrested after crashing into stone wall in Portsmouth
A local woman was found injured yesterday afternoon after a car crash.
According to Detective Lieutenant Michael C. Arnold, on January 8th at approximately 3:00 p.m., Officers were dispatched to Middle Rd at Mill Ln. in Portsmouth for the report of a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, the officer observed the suspect vehicle, a 2010 Chevrolet, had crashed through a stone wall outside of a Middle Rd residence. The officer made contact with Susan Sherman, 59, of Little Compton, who displayed obvious signs of intoxication. Sherman failed sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for DUI. Also observed in the vehicle was a bottle of brandy.
Sherman was transported to a local hospital for injuries and further testing. Upon arrival at the hospital she declined any further testing and was summoned for DUI 2nd Offense, Refusal to submit to a chemical test and Failure to maintain proper control of a vehicle.
