Charges were upgraded last week concerning a fiery Bristol County highway crash that later turned fatal.

According to the Attleboro Fire Department, at approximately 1:15 a.m. on September 7th, Attleboro firefighters were dispatched to Interstate 95 north for a reported crash.

Upon arrival, crews encountered a debris field stretching nearly a quarter mile involving two vehicles.

One vehicle contained a male driver who was trapped inside. Firefighters used extrication tools to gain access to the vehicle and remove the victim. He was transported by advanced life support ambulance to Rhode Island Hospital in critical condition.

According to WPRI, 53-year-old Xu Shao Lin of Cranston succumbed to his injuries in October.

The second vehicle came to rest about 400 yards away after rolling over and striking a bridge support. The car was fully engulfed in flames beneath the overpass. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire.

The driver, 38-year-old Darlena Fulp of Dedham, according to authorities, had self-extricated from the vehicle prior to firefighters’ arrival. She was transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital with minor injuries and was later charged.

Court records show that Fulp has a probable cause hearing scheduled for June 25th in Attleboro District Court on OUI-Liquor With Serious Injury, Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and Speeding.

With Lin now deceased, on April 23rd Fulp was indicted on Manslaughter While OUI and Motor Vehicle Homicide OUI with an arraignment scheduled in Fall River Superior Court on May 13th, according to court records.
