I love these types of stories. A woman thinks she scored a decent payday on a State Lottery scratch ticket, and it turns out she hit life changing cash.

According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, Michelle Sloan of Worcester is the winner of a $1 million prize in the Massachusetts State Lottery’s “$2,000,000 Diamond Cashword” instant ticket game.

She chose the cash option on her prize and received a one-time payment of $650,000 (before taxes). Sloan said she plans to use her winnings to invest and help her children.

Originally thinking she won $10,000 on the ticket, Sloan later confirmed she had won the $1 million dollar prize at the Lottery’s Worcester regional office, where she was directed to visit the Dorchester headquarters to claim her prize. “I was positive it was only ten grand,” said Sloan. “I just can’t believe it. I’m still so shocked!”

She purchased her winning ticket at Village Knoll Variety, 107 West Main St. in Millbury. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for its sale of this ticket.
