Woman facing charges after reported assault of disabled person at Fall River park
Fall River Police have charged a woman in an incident that has garnered much attention on social media.
Fall River Reporter had been contacted by residents concerning a video posted on Facebook by Carlos Melo where a woman was possibly assaulting an autistic person in the area of Kennedy Park.
We contacted FRPD for an update on the incident.
According to Lieutenant Matthew Mendes, the incident was investigated by the Department’s Patrol Bureau and has been reported to the Disabled Person Protection Commission (DPPC) for a follow-up.
The investigative efforts of the Patrol Bureau have resulted in an employee of Crystal Springs being charged with Assault & Battery on a Disabled Person.
The name of the suspect has not yet been released and will be revealed once arraigned.
