Woman facing 7 charges after allegedly crashing into multiple vehicles in South Coast hit and run
MARION — Chief Richard Nighelli reports that the Marion Police Department arrested a woman who was allegedly operating under the influence and fled the scene of a crash on Friday morning.
At approximately 11:09 a.m., Marion Police Sgt. Larry Savery was conducting a routine patrol in the area of Front Street near Ryder Lane when he noticed a vehicle in the roadway, a damaged street sign and pieces of what appeared to be a headlight in the road.
Sgt. Savery spoke to the vehicle operator, who stated that a red Ford sedan crossed over the yellow line and struck their vehicle. Police also learned a short time later that the same car struck a second unoccupied vehicle nearby. As Sgt. Savery was speaking to the driver, he observed the same red Ford sedan exiting a parking lot.
At that time, Sgt. Savery activated his cruiser’s emergency lights and sirens and attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver allegedly traveled over a mile before stopping for police. Sgt. Savery arrested the driver, identified as 45-year-old Allyson Lagasse of Rochester, who was then taken to the Marion Police Department for booking.
No one was injured as a result of the crash.
Lagasse was arrested and charged with Operating Under the Influence, Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Marked Lanes Violation, Leaving the Scene of Property Damage (Two Counts), Failure to Stop for Police, Disturbing the Peace, and Destruction of Property.
She also received a citation for not having her license in her possession.
Lagasse was scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Wareham District Court.
