Woman dies from injuries in crash on Route 195
A woman has died from injuries she sustained in a serious crash over the weekend.
According to Dave Procopio of the Massachusetts State Police, at 1:48 a.m. on Saturday, January 16, Massachusetts State Troopers from the State Police-Dartmouth Barracks responded to a serious single-vehicle crash on Rt. 195 eastbound in Rehoboth, near Exit 5. The crash resulted in a fatality.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the vehicle, a 2010 Honda Pilot occupied by two Pawtucket, R.I., women, went out of control and exited the roadway to the left, went down an embankment, rolled over in the grass median and came to rest near the westbound travel lane. The driver was ejected. The passenger remained in the passenger compartment during the crash. Both occupants were transported to Rhode Island Hospital.
The driver was pronounced deceased Sunday at the hospital. She is identified as Emerizialina M. Moreira, 25, of Pawtucket, R.I. The passenger, a 26-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Troop D of the Massachusetts State Police with assistance from the MSP Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and MSP Crime Scene Services Section and the State Police Detective Unit for Bristol County.
