With three weeks to go St. Anne’s parishioner raises less than $5k of $1 million goal
After just over a week, a private push to help save the St. Anne’s Church in Fall River has raised just over $4,900 of the $1 million goal. The goal is to raise $1 million in 30 days.
Even the $1 million goal is well short of the money needed to fully restore the church. As of this writing, there have been 29 total donations in eight days with the largest donations being two $1,000 donations and a $1,200 donation.
The Bishop of Fall River Edgar Moreira da Cunha sent a letter to parishioners of Saint Anne’s parish on 13 Oct, 2018 stating that $13.5 million was needed for a full restoration and $5 million just to make the upper church suitable for use. In the letter, Bishop da Cunha stated that there simply wasn’t fundraising support in the community and the final mass will be held on Nov. 25, 2018:

There was a peaceful protest outside the church on Sunday hosted by members against the closing of the church in November.
