With several overdose deaths in Fall River recently, Mayor Coogan evaluating, encourages Narcan possession
Fall River, MA – This week, the City of Fall River saw a number of overdose deaths and Mayor Coogan is responding.
According to the Mayor’s Office, the Coogan administration is currently evaluating the systems that are in place across city departments. Coogan states that he plans to work internally with all departments involved in order to refocus efforts related to substance use disorder to ensure policies, procedures, and strategies become streamlined and outcomes become measurable. Additionally, the Coogan administration will be convening a meeting with agencies throughout Fall River to strengthen our partnerships and work to improve collaboration and communication.
Mayor Coogan continues to encourage individuals and family members impacted by substance use disorder to be in possession of NARCAN® at all times. In Fall River individuals can obtain free NARCAN® at Seven Hills Behavioral Health. Seven Hills is located at 356 S. Main Street, Fall River, MA and is open Monday through Friday, 9am until 5pm. For more information, you can contact Seven Hills at (508) 235-1012. NARCAN® can also be obtained at local pharmacies. No prescription is required and insurance does cover the cost. For those uninsured, there is a cost.
