A restaurant with several locations in Massachusetts and Rhode Island is coming to Fall River.

Caliente Mexican Grill, a local chain specializing in fresh, customizable authentic Mexican cuisine is coming to 1001 Pleasant Street, the former Bank of America building.

Founded in 2005, Caliente’s goal is serving New England the freshest burritos, tacos, and related dishes.

Ben and Jess Wood recognized the demand for healthy food with bold flavor. They decided to bring their West Coast influences to the emporium at the University of Rhode Island which has since expanded to 9 locations.

CMG operates in a fast-casual style similar to Chipotle, where customers build their own bowls, burritos, tacos, salads, and more with choices of meats (like al pastor, birria, steak, chicken), beans, salsas, guacamole, queso, and toppings. The menu also includes enchiladas, churros, appetizers (such as loaded nacho fries, jalapeño poppers, chips and guac), fajita salads, dinner plates, breakfast options (like breakfast burritos), and specials such as birria tacos or chimichangas.

Caliente has take-out and dining in. You can also order delivery through apps such as Grub Hub, Door Dash, and Uber Eats.

The chain has multiple locations across Rhode Island and Massachusetts including South Kingstown/URI, Providence (3), West Warwick, Newport, Malden, Dartmouth, and New Bedford.

Caliente doesn’t have an exact opening date yet for Fall River, but is shooting for June or July.
