With heat forecasts continuing to climb, City of Fall River announces cooling centers
FALL RIVER, MA- With sweltering conditions ahead, Mayor Paul Coogan has announced a cooling center at Fall River Government Center due to the extreme heat expected in the area.
The cooling center will be open from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Thursday, July 2nd and Friday, July 3rd, 2026. The cooling center will be located in the Government Center Cafeteria and can be accessed through the cafeteria entrance.
Additionally, a cooling center will be open at Steppingstone Inc., located at 134 Durfee Street, Fall River, MA 02720, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Saturday, July 4th, 2026.
Due to the high temperatures, the City of Fall River wants to remind residents to check on family, friends, and neighbors. Drink plenty of water, stay indoors in a cool area when possible, and avoid strenuous activity if you have health conditions that may be affected by the heat.
