Winter Weather Advisory and Flood Warning issued for Fall River area
According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Wednesday for south coast of Rhode Island and Massachusetts including Fall River and New Bedford.
Bristol and Plymouth Counties are also in a River Flood Warning until 1:00 a.m. Wednesday.
Situation
Light snow is forecast to begin falling late this afternoon, overspreading the entire region after midnight tonight. Snow may become heavy at times by the Wednesday morning commute and will continue through the day before tapering off by mid to late afternoon Wednesday. Total snowfall accumulations are forecast to be 5-8 inches over interior Massachusetts, mainly west of the I-95 corridor, with lower amounts in southeastern Massachusetts where a changeover to rain is expected to occur during the day Wednesday.
Impacts:
- Snowfall is expected to result in hazardous travel on snow-covered roads. Both the Wednesday morning and evening commutes are forecast to be impacted.
