Wind Advisory, Gale Warnings, low wind chills start the weekend across New England
Cold temperatures and strong wind gusts are expected to welcome in the weekend across the area.
According to the National Weather Service, wind advisories are posted for tonight through Saturday across Rhode Island and Massachusetts. West winds sustained at 20-30 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph are expected. The height of the wind gusts is expect on Saturday morning. Plan for scattered tree, tree limb, and/or power line damage which could bring potential for power outages.
Gale warnings are posted for all waters beginning this afternoon going through Saturday evening. West wind gusts up to 50 knots with seas approaching 12 feet are expected. Additional threat of minor freezing spray developing shortly after midnight Saturday and continuing as late as Sunday morning.
Gusty west winds tonight through Saturday will also usher in colder air across the region. As lows drop down into the single digits to teens, wind chills will fall below zero for the Berkshires & Worcester Hills, single digits elsewhere.
