While New England waits for possible powerful nor’easter mid week, some snow expected Monday
While we could see heavy snow and powerful winds in the middle of this week, we are expecting to see some snow tomorrow.
According to the National Weather Service, winter returns this week, as temperatures become more seasonable. A fast moving storm will bring a brief period of snow Monday, resulting in a dusting to an inch or two of accumulation, mainly on the grass.
A potential winter storm could arrive for most of the region later Wednesday into Thursday. There is still uncertainty as to how close to New England it will pass, which will determine how much snow we receive.
The NWS has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for that potential winter storm which could bring heavy snow, strong winds along the coast, and coastal flooding and beach erosion to eastern Massachusetts.
Heavy snow and strong winds may occur along and west of the I-95 corridor, including Washington D.C., Philadelphia, New York City, and Boston metropolitan areas.
While confidence is increasing on there being a major winter storm, there remains uncertainty with the expected track of the nor’easter, and thus location and magnitude of the heaviest snowfall. However, it is becoming increasingly likely that there will be significant impacts felt along the East Coast including disruption and power outages.
