A Westport school staff member has been placed on leave due to allegations levied concerning a student.
According to a letter issued today by Superintendent of Schools Thomas Aubin, on April 7, the Westport Community Schools received an allegation of staff misconduct involving a student. The staff member was immediately placed on administrative leave pending a full investigation into the matter. Aubin also stated that the District immediately notified the Westport Police Department and Department of Children and Families.
Aubin did not give specifics concerning the alleged misconduct.
“Due to the confidentiality rights of all parties involved, and to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigations, we are unable at this time to comment further on the specifics of the allegations, the ongoing investigation, and/or any related personnel actions. However, I want to assure our families that we take allegations such as these very seriously and acted immediately to ensure the well-being of all students. We are in direct communication with individuals who we understand may have information relevant to this matter. However, if you have any concerns about your child, please contact the Superintendent’s Office.”
