Westport rollover crash spanning two highways results in injuries, charges
A driver is facing charges after a violent collision that spanned two local highways.
According to Lieutenant Bryan McCarthy, on Monday, at approximately 8:00 p.m., the Westport Police Department received multiple 911 calls reporting a single-vehicle rollover crash in the area of 66 State Road (Route 6).
The preliminary investigation determined that the vehicle left the roadway, rolled over, and came to rest in the eastbound lanes of Route 195.
Officers from the Westport Police Department, the Massachusetts State Police and personnel from the Westport Fire Department responded to the scene.
Officers investigated the crash while emergency medical personnel evaluated the operator. The operator was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
As a result of the investigation, the operator has been charged with Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Failure to Stay Within Marked Lanes, and Speeding. An Immediate Threat notification has also been submitted to the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles.
The driver’s name was not released.
The crash remains under investigation.
